Roger Sanford Fishel, 67, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 28th. He was born July 3rd, 1942 to the late Clyde William and Mertie Allen Fishel. Roger was a 1961 graduate of Griffith High School , where he played football and baseball. He was in the first graduating class at Forsyth Technical Community College in 1963 with a degree in Mechanical Drafting. He coached baseball at South Little League (Krites Field) from 1977-1983. He knew and loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Promiseland Baptist Church in Lexington , NC . He loved to do anything outdoors including fishing, deer hunting, gardening, driving his tractors and being a wonderful ""pawpaw"" by swimming, riding the golf cart and 4-wheeler with his five grand-daughters. He thoroughly enjoyed building and remodeling houses with his son Chris. He worked 25 years at Schlitz/Strohs Brewery, Chesapeake Display and Packaging for 5 years and Phillip Morris for 6 ½ years from which he retired. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilburn Fishel. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Smith Fishel; two sons, ""Chuck"" Fishel of Winston- Salem; Chris Fishel and wife Annette of Rural Hall; a daughter Cheryl Bowman and husband Steve of Kernersville; five Grandaughters, the lights of his life, Ashley Fishel, Elizabeth Fishel and Katelyn Fishel of Rural Hall; Lauren Bowman and Kendall Bowman of Kernersville. Also surviving are four sisters, Virginia Davis, Juanita Troutman, Peggy Lewter all of W-S and Patty Hendrix of Mocksville; and a brother Sydney Fishel of Emerald Isle. The Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday July 2, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Randy B. Robbins and Brother Mark Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
