BENNETT - PFAFFTOWN Mr. Roger William Bennett, 70, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 3, 1942 in Stokes County to Lucille Durham Bennett and the late Bernard William Bennett. Mr. Bennett proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Captain from the Winston-Salem Fire Department with 30 years of service. Mr. Bennett was a devoted family man with a strong faith in God and will be greatly missed. Surviving Mr. Bennett are his loving wife, Jerrie Turner Bennett; daughter, Lori Bennett Matthews (Charles); son, Nick William Bennett (Kimberly); eight grandchildren: David, Brandon, Justin, Myah, Dannise, McKenna, Karis, and Kaitlyn; one brother, Richard Gray Bennett (Sarah); and two nieces, Jenny and Missy. A graveside service will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Salisbury National Cemetery with Dr. Steve Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 3 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
