Roette Cockerham Bryant Peeples

Roette Cockerham Bryant Peeples passed away on January 6, 2015 at Regency Care of Clemmons. She was born on September 24, 1916 to Luther Edgar Cockerham and Laura Jane Layne Cockerham in Elkin, NC. Roette was a member of various civic organizations and enjoyed hobbies such as cooking, cross stitch, and gardening; swimming and walking. She served the Lord all her life, beginning with a profession of faith at age 11. Roette set a godly example for her children by reading the Bible daily. She was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church. Roette is survived by daughters, Brenda G. Bryant of Winston-Salem, Cynthia B. Granade of Charlotte, and Amy L. Bryant of Butner; grandchildren, Deborah H. Morgan of Kernersville, Sarah W. Granade of Arlington, VA, Ashlyn G. Neilson (Corey) of Charlotte; great grandchildren, Kasey A. Culler of Raleigh, Devan M. Yountz (Bobby) of Winston-Salem, Cadence Olivia Neilson, and Cooper Jack Neilson of Charlotte; a brother, James Vance Cockerham (Louise) of Elkin; sisters-in-law, Frances Cockerham of Statesville, Clairene Cockerham of Jefferson, Mary Ruth Cockerham of Elkin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and many treasured friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Amos Cottage, Inc., PO Box 15124, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
