Mr. Robert “Bob” Lee Whitley, 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021. He was born March 7, 1938 in Forsyth County to Hoyt Lee Whitley and Frankie Russell Whitley. Bob served in the National Guard and was a former member of South Fork Baptist Church. He later became a member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, wood working and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carole Finlayson Whitley in 2002 and a sister, Colene Ziglar in 2020. Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Ann Hayes Whitley; two daughters, Lisa Hedgecock (Zane) and Ann “Missy” Adams (Jeff); five grandchildren, Daniel Hedgecock, Caroline Clark, Andrew, Mallory and Matthew Adams; great grandchildren, Weldon and Trigg Hedgecock; four stepchildren, Teresa Smith (Steve), Jeff Smith (Lynn), Beth DeHart and Dawn Myers (Vince); eight step grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Whitley will lie in state from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Ronnie Craddock officiating. The family will receive friends at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 12:00 p.m. following the service. Memorials may be made to Yadkin Valley Baptist Church.
