Robert Alton "Bobby" Spillman

Mr. Robert Alton “Bobby” Spillman, 73, of Pfafftown, NC, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.  Bobby was born in Winston-Salem on June 26, 1949, to the late Isaac Eugene Spillman, Sr. and Margaret Beshears Spillman.  He graduated from West Forsyth High School and went on to serve his community as a Sergeant in the Winston-Salem Police Department, retiring after 29 years of service.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald and Ike Spillman; and granddaughter, Megan Annette Spillman.  Bobby is survived by his wife, Betty Spillman of the home; sons, Robert Spillman (Annette) of East Bend and Rodney Spillman of Pfafftown; grandchildren, Isaac Spillman (Elisabeth) of Pfafftown and Rachel Spillman (Benjamin Blevins) of Clemmons; and great-grandchildren, Barrett and Caroline Spillman.  Bobby was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, family beach trips, and his rose bushes.  Bobby was always there if you needed a helping hand and willing to do anything for you.  In his later years, he enjoyed watching hummingbirds on the front porch, going to Dairi-O for a milkshake, and figuring out what else he and his great-grandson could get into.  Bobby was a mentor to many of his friends, leaving behind a special friend who was with him until the end.  The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their kindness and willingness to help Bobby be as comfortable as possible in his last week of life.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Randall Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
