Robert “Bump” Herman Wofford

Kernersville - Mr. Robert ""Bump"" Herman Wofford, 101, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his home. He was born March 19, 1912 in Rowan Co. to the late James Emanuel and Euzelia Bell Feezor Wofford. He retired from RJR after 33 and a half years of service. Mr. Wofford was a veteran of the NC National Guard for six years, and was stationed at Fort Moultre, SC. Robert ""Bump"" enjoyed his time as the Athletic Director for Pop Warner Little League Football for many years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma Louise Wofford of 71 years, one sister, and three brothers. Surviving are; a son, Robert ""Bob"" Irvin Wofford and wife Judy of Greensboro, two daughters, Pat Holt and husband Harold ""Tommy"" of Colfax, and Vikie Jean Ashworth and husband John of Winston Salem, seven grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Joe McWethy and Pastor Mike Gates officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103, and to Parkway Gospel Chapel where Mr. Wofford was a member, 2651 Buchanan Street, Winston Salem, NC 27127.
