Mr. Robert Gray Wilson passed away Thursday at NC Baptist Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born on April 26, 1933 to Lawrence and Flossie Wilson. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Etta Lou Wilson; daughter, Anna Blackwell; sons, Ronnie (wife, Pam) and Tim (wife, Marcia); and four grandchildren (Daniel, Robbie, Tori, Austin) and two great-grandchildren (Skylar and Zander). He graduated Mineral Springs High School in 1951. He worked at the Winston-Salem Journal-Sentinel Newspaper from 1951 to 1966. He served in the US Army Medic Corp from 1956 until 1958. In 1966, he went into business at the College 66 Service Station on Polo Road in Winston-Salem. He retired in 2001. He enjoyed auto racing and served as crew chief for his grandson's go-cart racing. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Wake Forest Baptist Health Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Cancer Services of Forsyth County. Family visitation will be at Hayworth-Miller on Silas Creek Parkway on Saturday, July 9 at 1:00pm with funeral service at 2:00pm and graveside prayer to follow at Crestview Cemetery in Rural Hall with Pastor Tim Gammons officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to the building fund of Woodland Baptist Church, 1175 Bethania Rural Hall Rd, Winston-Salem NC 27106.
