Mr. Robert Franklin Wilcox, Jr., 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018. He was born in Forsyth County on December 13, 1932, to the late Robert Franklin Wilcox, Sr. and Ollie Kates Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox was a member of Elm Grove United Methodist Church and was a proud veteran, whom served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved the mountains and the New River in Ashe County and loved spending as much time as he could there. Preceding him in death are his parents, a daughter, Diane Wilcox Clark, and a sister, Frances Wilcox Ashburn. Surviving are his wife, Doris Doub Wilcox, a son, Michael Wilcox and wife Edee, a son-in-law, Robert Clark, a grandson, Nick Wilcox, three granddaughters, Ashley Clark Medina and husband Irving, Michelle Clark Lee and husband Brian, and Kristen Wilcox, three great-grandchildren, and a step-sister, Connie Wilkes. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, officiated by Rev. Patrick Marion and Rev. Jeff Hamrick. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elm Grove United Methodist Church, PO Box 164, Pfafftown, NC 27040.
