Robert L. Walsh, Jr.

Robert L. Walsh, Jr., 94, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2023.  He was a friend to many and a daddy to a fortunate few.  He was born June 22, 1929, in Wilkes County, NC.  The son of Rebecca Estelle Jones Walsh and Robert Lee Walsh, Sr.  Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his loving wife of 64 years, Martha Nifong Walsh and his sisters, Connie W. Michael (Fred), Jo W. Lane (Bob) and Rosetta W. Sebastian.  He is survived by his sisters, Lea W. Barnes and Bobbie Ann Tulbert and a brother, Z. Thomas Walsh (Nancy); sisters-in-law, Agnes L. Nifong and Evelyn G. Nifong; four children, Donna Walsh Stanford (Gordon), Benny Gordon Walsh (Nancy Leonard), Diane Walsh Harper (Mike Simpson), and Robert Lee Walsh, III (Tamara); 14 grandchildren, Zach Stanford (Kim), Gus Stanford (Ranya), Jim Agner (Angela), Ray Agner, Olivia Cundiff (Dillon), Amelia Reynolds (Houston), Amber Street (Jamie), September Harper (Eric), Cannon Harper (Erica), Patrick Harper, Grady Holzhaus, Robert L. Walsh, IV (Cheyenne), Chase Walsh (Tori), and Austin Walsh; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.  Robert loved hunting and the outdoors.  He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 33 years.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he worked as an airplane mechanic until coming home to help his mother when his daddy died at age 54.  He loved his time in El Paso and England and always shared many stories.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 15, 2023, at Lewisville United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Brown officiating.  The family will have a reception with friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lewisville United Methodist Church, PO Box 305 Lewisville, NC 27023 or to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
