Robert ""Bob"" Louis Voegele, Sr., woodworker, gardener, proud grandfather, fisherman, a family man, and avid volunteer, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held 3:00 pm, Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Brian Edmonds officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Bob was born February 5, 1930 in Kay County, OK to August Theodore and Bertha Miller Voegele. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and a retired Founding Partner with C & M Baling Systems Inc. Bob was a prize-winning woodworker. His birdhouses and wooden toys delighted both children and adults. He volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity Restore and Brenner Children's Hospital's Arts for Life. Whether Bob was building birdhouses for Lewisville students to paint for the PTA spring school auction or the Habitat Mayfest, helping neighbors cut down trees, donating his vegetables to the local Food Bank or building a wheelchair ramp for the elderly, Bob was always willing to share his talents and time to help others. In 2014, Bob received the President of the United States Points of Light Volunteer Service Award. He enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens, feeding the birds, his farm in Sparta, North Carolina and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Bob's parents and two brothers, Leroy and Marvin Voegele, preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife, Polly Reece Voegele; a son, Robert Voegele, Jr. and wife Marci of Monroe, NC; a daughter, Patricia V. Phelps of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren, Robert Louis Voegele III and his wife Lindsay, Brenton and Cameron Voegele and Emily Elizabeth Phelps; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Voegele of Newkirk, OK and Sherrie Voegele of Fayette, AL and many nieces and nephews whom he loved and who loved him. In lieu of gifts, donations can be made to either the Clemmons Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels or Habitat Restore. Those wishing to sign Bob's guestbook may do so at www.hayworth-miller.com.
