Mr. Robert (Bob) Elbert Spach was called to his Heavenly home early Monday morning, July 7, 2014. He was 86 years old. Bob was born January 9, 1928 to Emory Eugene and Elsie Ebert Spach. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary West Spach, his parents, and four siblings. Bob was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a graduate of R. J. Reynolds High School and joined the Coast Guard in 1946, where he served until 1948. Bob retired from Alltel Telephone Company in 1992 to be caregiver for his wife, a role he would fill for over 20 years until her passing in January of this year. He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Griffin and husband Ronnie and Rita Berrier and husband Danny; four grandchildren, Jennifer Autry and husband Paul Jr., Jordan Griffin, Adam Griffin, Brandi Latham and husband Kenny ; a great-grandson, Ethan Latham and a sister, Geneva Mabe. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Chris Byrne officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to New Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund, 4258 Old Lexington Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
