Robert "Bob" Richard Smedley

Mr. Robert (Bob) Richard Smedley, 83, of Bermuda Run passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at his home. He was born August 1, 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Noble Frederick and Mary MacDowell Smedley. Mr. Smedley started his career as a mechanical engineer and later was a specialist in commercial real estate development. He retired as Sr. Vice-President of Wachovia Bank. He was a private pilot and flew often in small single and twin engine aircraft. He also loved playing golf and spending time at his home at Smith Mountain Lake. He loved international travel and cruises and was fortunate enough to continue this travel right up to his death, just returning from a trip to Asia. Preceding him in death in 2007 was his wife, Irene McNeil Smedley. Surviving are two sons, Drew Frederick Smedley and wife Lisa and Kevin John Smedley and wife Susan and five grandchildren, Jared, Nicholas, Kristen, Justin and Cailin.
