Robert Sides

KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Robert "Bob" Early Sides, 89, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Bob was the youngest of seven children, born on December 5, 1928 in Forsyth County to Robert Eli and Flossie Teague Sides. He was a graduate of Griffith High School and a Veteran of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Bob was an active and faithful member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and was Church Treasurer for over 40 years. He retired, with 38 years of service, from AT&T (Western Electric) in 1987, as a Technical Writer Supervisor. Enjoying the outdoors, Bob loved to work in his yard and garden.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true friend to many. Bob was a true gentleman and a man of integrity. He was humble, kind, patient and caring, and would do anything to help others. He loved his family and cherished the time spent with his grandsons, teaching them many important life lessons that they will treasure forever.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Kenneth Sides; four sisters, Mary Snyder, Roberta Renegar, Edith Kinnaman, and Margie Teague.
He is survived by his loving wife and companion, of 67 years, Dorothy "Dot" Holland Sides; his children, who were the joy of his life, Donna Fulton (Scott) of Clemmons and Randy Sides (Gina) of Kernersville; three special grandsons, Alex Fulton (Laura), Robert Fulton, and Matthew Sides (Patience); and a great granddaughter, Madeline Sides.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with Rev. George Freeman and Rev. Karen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. prior to the service in the Church Sanctuary. Memorials may be made to Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, 794 Sedge Garden Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses in ICU-N at Forsyth Medical Center. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
