Robert Michael Russell

Mr. Robert Michael (Mike) ""The Tree Man"" Russell, 65, of Kernersville, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008. He was born January 10, 1943 in Hawkins County, TN to Robert L. and Emily Smith Russell. Mr. Russell was a member of Berean Baptist Church and retired from Pilot Freight Carriers in Kernersville. He was the owner and operator of Russell's Tree Service. He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Roy Jack Russell and Ronald Lewis Russell. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Mrs. Alice Morgan Russell; one daughter, Emily Russell of Kernersville; one son, Matt Russell (wife Dianna) of Spanaway, WA; his mother, Emily Smith Russell Gray of Rogersville, TN; five grandchildren, Alannah, Daniel, Joseph, Michael and Jennifer; one brother, Thomas Dean Russell of Mt. Carmel, TN; brothers-in-law, Leroy Haiglar, Al Morgan, both of Midland, NC, Doug Jones of Albermarle; five sister-in-laws, Madeline Haiglar, Ann Bailey, Kay Jones, Betty Morgan and Vendetta Russell and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, October 6, 2008 at Berean Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Baity officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Sunday at the church.
