Robert Lee Overton

Robert Lee Overton, age 78,passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 14, 1936 in Beaufort County, North Carolina to the late James Lacy and Ethel Moore Overton. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His favorite past time was to be outside on his John Deere tractor. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Edith Weeden; two sons, Stan and Gerald Overton. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sara Ogburn Overton; son, Keith Overton (Kim); grandsons, Andrew Keith and Mitchell Channing Overton; granddaughter, Mattie Jane Overton; brother, J.L. Overton; Four sisters, Irene Mayo, Russell Dudeck, Jackie Thompson, and Tappy McMillan.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 9 at Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Wes McLeod officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Perpetual Cemetery Care Fund at Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church, 6012 Germanton Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
