Robert Francis Ogburn Jr. died Sunday, April 03, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC after a period of declining health. He was born August 4, 1945 in Winston-Salem, NC to Robert Francis Ogburn and Elaine Shupe Ogburn who both preceded him in death. Mr. Ogburn graduated from Mineral Springs High School. He worked at Fogle Brothers Lumber Company and in the lumber industry for more than 25 years. Mr. Ogburn was an excellent craftsman; creating many wonderful wood furnishings for his family and friends such as a teacher desk for his daughter and a beautiful cradle for his first grandchild. Mr. Ogburn attended Oak Summit Methodist Church as a youth but for many years he did not walk with the Lord. Three years ago, he prayed, asking Jesus to forgive him and to be his Savior. The Lord heard this simple prayer and the promise is eternity with his Heavenly Father. Mr. Ogburn is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Brad Wall; two grandchildren he loved dearly, Martha (Mattie) Elizabeth Wall and John Michael Wall of Winston-Salem; one brother Kerry Ogburn of Pleasant Garden, NC; a special aunt, Peggy Bryant of Galax, Virginia; and a faithful long-time friend, Mary Nell Manuel of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family would like to thank Robin with Piedmont Companion Care and the staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their help and assistance tending to Mr. Ogburns needs during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
