Robert Monroe Neel

WINSTON-SALEM-Mr. Robert Monroe Neel, 99, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Brookridge Retirement Community. Mr. Neel was born on December 12, 1914 in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late Oliver Anderson Neel and Eula Belle Bass Neel. Robert graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1936 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked as a chemical engineer at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for 25 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Neel was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Woodall Neel and a brother, William F. Neel. Mr. Neel is survived by his son, William Neel of Winston-Salem and a brother, Andy Neel of Charlotte, NC. A private graveside service will be held at Forsyth Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, 2895 Shorefair Dr. NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
