Mr. Robert Franklin Miller Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, went to be with his Lord early Saturday morning January 23, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center . He was born February 15, 1928 in Forsyth Co., to Russell Franklin and Ruby Haigwood Miller. Robert loved to play all kind of sports and enjoyed being in the outdoors. In his early years he enjoyed hunting, playing golf with his friends at Hillcrest and trips to the Daytona 500 each Spring. Robert's most enjoyable time was spent with his family on annual fall fishing trips to the North Carolina Coast. He was a graduate of Griffith High School and served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a lifelong member of Friedberg Moravian Church where he served on numerous boards and committees. He also was a Sunday school teacher and played in the Moravian band. Robert was very active in his community where he was a Charter member and past president of the Civitan club. Robert loved his work, where he started in the funeral business in 1947, then becoming partners with W. Paul Hayworth in 1961 where Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home began. To this day it remains family owned as the third generation begins to carry on his legacy. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Reva Jones Miller; his son Frank Miller and wife Cindy, his daughters Ann Stevens and husband Johnny, Sandy Dunlap and husband Darrell. His grandchildren, Leslie Miller Moore and husband Landon, Brandon Miller and wife Jennifer, Dylan Stevens, Luke Dunlap and Landon Dunlap. His great grandchildren, Madison, Dayton and Braydon Moore. His sister Ruth Coulter and husband Bill. A sister-in-law Ruby Jones Mickey. Also several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted at Friedberg Moravian Church on Monday January 25, 2010 at 3:00 PM with Rev. G. Thomas Shelton, Rev. James C. Newsome and Rev. Norwood Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 24th, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Also friends may come by at anytime to pay their respects at the funeral home or on the web site at www.hayworth-miller.com The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff, nurses and care givers at Bermuda Village for the wonderful care and compassion that was shown to Robert and his family during his stay. Also to the nurses and staff on the 8th floor palliative care unit at Forsyth Medical Center who were awesome.
