Robert E. Ledford

WINSTON-SALEM - Robert Earl Ledford entered into rest on September 5, 2011. Born in Erwin, Tennessee on September 8, 1936, he moved to Miami, Florida as a youth. Winston-Salem has been his home for over 50 years. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended High Point University and Wake Forest University and received a bachelor degree from New York University. He worked for Hyatt Hotels and Forsyth Country Club. Bob is preceded in death by his parents James Walter and Nina Belle Ledford; brother, Richard Keith Ledford; brother-in-law Robert Harvey; sister-in-law Kitty Ledford; and cherished grandson, Jason Alexander Emanuel. He is survived by Carroll Ledford, Winston-Salem; Roberta Ledford, Winston-Salem; son, John Paul Ledford (Diane), Winston-Salem; four sisters, Sharon (Harold) O'Dell, Greenwood, MS; Phyllis (Ken) Koehnle, Hudson, Ohio; Katrina (Chris) Emanuel, Charlotte, NC; Patricia Harvey, Leesburg, FL; five brothers, Thomas (Shane) Ledford, Longwood, FL; David (Charlotte) Ledford, Pompano Beach, FL; Roger (Esther) Ledford, Tamarac, FL; Charles (Vivian) Ledford, Erwin, TN; James Theodore Ledford, Erwin. TN; granddaughters, Samantha Ledford Gale (Alex), Winston-Salem, NC; Alexandria Ledford, Reidsville, NC; and Tatum Ledford, Shallotte, NC; numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Wanda Burney, Winston-Salem, NC, for her loving assistance with Bob over the past two years. Graveside Services will be held at Crews United Methodist Church, 4150 Reidsville Rd., Winston-Salem, at 12:00 on September 8, 2011. Officiating will be Rev. Brian Crady. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name can be made to an animal rescue/charity of your choice.
