Robert Odell 'Sonny' Lawson

Mr. Robert Odell ""Sonny"" Lawson, 71, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 14, 1939 in Forsyth County to Robert David and Ruby Tedder Lawson. Mr. Lawson was a member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church where he served as head usher and was also custodian. He loved working in his flower garden and landscaping. He loved fast cars, but most of all he loved his church, wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James ""Buster"" Lawson; and a sister, Joyce Lynn Lawson. Surviving is his loving wife of 45 years, Lois Lawson of the home; two daughters, Mechiele McCallum and husband Eric of Winston-Salem, Kelly L. Lewis and husband Jeff of Roanoke, VA; one son, Jeff Lawson and wife Lisa of Mooresville; six grandchildren, Anna, Taylor, Haley, Trey, Parker and Tyler; a sister, Mary Mullins and husband Mack of Clemmons; and a brother, Richard Lawson of Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 8th at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Jennings ONeil officiating.
