KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Robert Josh Jones, Jr.,83, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at his home. Robert was born on April 9, 1931 in Carroll County, VA, to the late Robert Josh Jones, Sr. and Kate Melissa Jones. Robert was a member of Abundant Grace Tabernacle in Kernersville. He was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco after 32 years of service.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his infant brother, Quincy Jones; and four sisters, Louise Lawson, Erma Shupe, Jewell Jones and Iris Collins.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Mabe Jones; two nephews, Larry Shupe (Susan) and Wade Lawson (Barbara); one niece, Sandra Eaton (Fred); special children, Sadie and Dylan Taylor, Seth Barbour, Forrest and Mitch Taylor; special friends, Rev. Mike and Susan Jefferson, Bernard and Angie Taylor, Burton Whittion; and special caregiver, Dennis Fidelis Abunaw.
A Funeral Service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Abundant Grace Tabernacle Church with Rev. Mike Jefferson and Bishop Bob Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in Fries, VA. Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Home Loving Senior Care and Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their kindness during Robert's illness.
