Robert Don Johnson

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Don Johnson announces his passing after a brief illness, on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the age of 79 years. Robert was born in Wilkes County, NC on August 17, 1933 to Reverend Herman and Noma Johnson. He was a graduate of Wilkesboro High School and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Robert enjoyed fishing, cars, being with his family and friends, and will be remembered for his legendary story telling. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jolene Hayes Johnson and is survived by their sons Tim Johnson (Lesa) of Fort Mill, SC, Matthew Johnson (Sallie) of Summerfield, NC and David Johnson (Lisa) of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by his and Jolene's five grandchildren, Morgan, Hannah, Jacob and Elise Johnson and Thomas Malek. Robert will also be forever remembered by his current wife, Inez Motsinger Johnson, stepdaughter Paula Meyncke, and his sisters, Jean Adkins and Judy Driver. There will be a reception and visitation on Saturday, October 13th at 10:00 am at Knollwood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. The Memorial Service will commence at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Bob Setzer, Jr. officiating. A Graveside Inurnment Service will follow at ParkLawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Winston-Salem. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home of Winston-Salem is coordinating these events.
