Robert Lee Houck

Robert Lee Houck, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 7, 1921 to Elbert P. and Florence Goodpasture Houck. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Thelma S. Houck; one sister, Elizabeth Parks of Prattville, AL; special nephews, William R. Sexton, Willie Houck, Jr. and James R. (Robbie) Gross. He is also survived by special nieces, Janet Berry and Stephanie Baity; grand niece, Jordan Baity and grand nephew, Joshua Baity; his beloved cat, Sammi; and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Willie Gray Houck, James Roy Houck; and sisters, Virginia Campbell and Nellie Medley. Robert served our country in Europe during WWII. He received six battle stars including one for The Battle of The Bulge. After the war, he served four years in occupied Vienna, Austria. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons with the Rev. Stan Riddle officiating and with military rites by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel one hour prior to the service.
