Robert Lee Hoots

Robert Lee Hoots of Winston-Salem passed away on November 25, 2009. Born in Yadkin County on November 9, 1922, he was the son of Fletcher and Mucie Hoots. He was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army 909th Signal Corp, in the European Theater. Robert retired from RJR Archer after 36 years of service. He was a member of College Park Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his sisters Phosa (Joe) Reavis, Lola (Paul) Joyner and a brother Max (Anita) Hoots. Robert is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Mildred Brawley Hoots; two faithful daughters and their supportive husbands, Melinda and Stan Tedder, and Teresa and Ernie Driver. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Cyndi (Kevin) Clark and Colton Driver, and two great-grandchildren Hunter and Walker Clark. Robert is also survived by his brother Ray (Gladys) Hoots and sisters Betty (Bristol) Renegar and Leta (Bill) Steelman and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 27, 2009, at College Park Baptist Church with Rev. Ramon Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Special thanks to Dr. Betsy English for her excellent medical care and compassion, Debbie Williams for her home care assistance, and the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
