Mr. Robert “Bob” L. Hensley, age 91 of Clemmons, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born April 26, 1932 in Turtletown, Tennessee and was the only child of Fred Lymprior Hensley and Elsie Ann Reese Hensley. He is survived by his wife, Nora Heery Hensley of the home. They were married in 1952 at the Baptist church in McCaysville, Georgia. Bob is also survived by two sons, Robert, Jr. and wife Kathy of Salisbury and Michael of Clemmons and one grandson, Brian Hensley of Salisbury. Bob received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Tennessee and a MBA from UNC at Greensboro and he completed the Western Electric Graduate Engineering Program. He was an active member of the beloved Clemmons United Methodist Church where he had the privilege of being a Stephen Minister and the chairperson of the Building Committee and Administrative Board. Bob was a past president of the Clemmons Civic Club and served eight years on the Village of Clemmons Planning Board. Bob retired from Lucent Technologies after Thirty-six years of Bell system service. His primary assignments were in North Carolina and North Dakota. He served on the USS Mount McKinly During the Korean War and was awarded the Korean and United Nations service medals. The Celebration of Bob Hensley’s life will be held in the sanctuary of Clemmons United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends in the Churches Commons Area following the service. Memorials may be directed to the Clemmons United Methodist Church Building Program.
