Mr. Robert ""Bob"" Eugene Heathershaw, 86, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC. He was born September 26, 1924 in Waterloo, Iowa to Elwin and Ethyl Strong Heathershaw. Mr. Heathershaw was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service, serving during WWII in the South Pacific and Vietnam. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. During his life time he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He taught technical classes at community colleges. He worked at Appalachian State University in the maintenance department, and also worked for Bahnson Company of Winston-Salem. Mr. Heathershaw was a lifelong model railroad enthusiast, and was devoted to family life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Vernon ""Judy"" Heathershaw; his parents and a sister, Dorothy H. Greene. Surviving are one son, Eugene G. Heathershaw and wife Mary Ellen of Huntsville, AL; three daughters, Kathryn H. Benson of Winston-Salem, Beth H. Shope and husband Matthew of Greensboro, and Robin H. Davis and husband Michael of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10 at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Steve Hardy officiating.
