Hammaker- Robert Loy Hammaker, 75, went to meet Jesus after ""He fought the good fight, ran the race, and finished the course"" on Friday, October 24, 2008. He was born September 5, 1933 in Harrisburg, PA to Joseph Henry Hammaker and Esther Mae Garverich Hammaker. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eva Buchenauer Hammaker, and his children, daughter, Donna (Dave) Gronewoller, sons, Douglas (Melicent) and Jeffrey (Kim) Hammaker. Grandchildren, Heather (Ashley) Waldridge, Joshua (Fiancé©e Kayla Speas), Luke, Hannah, Jordan, Megan, Alyssa, and Joseph Hammaker, Brendyn and Nathan Gronewoller. Great-grandchildren, Tobias and Truett Waldridge. Step-grandchildren, Brian (Morgan) and Keith (Suzanna) Gronewoller, Ashley (Davey) Iverson, step-great-grandchildren, Peyton, Parker, Chloe, Julia and Daniel Gronewoller, and Dawson Iverson and numerous nieces and nephews. Loy (as he was best known by family) was preceded in death by his parents and son, Bob Jr., sister Evelyn Probeck and brother Harold Hammaker. Loy was a member of Fraternity Church of the Brethren, where he was chairman of the Trustees for two terms and was also a President of the Dependable Sunday School Class. Loy earned his Eagle Scout award. He was an assistant Scout Master and then Scout Master at Ridgeway Community Church of the Brethren in Harrisburg, PA. Loy was employed by AMP, Inc. for 43 years before retirement. He started as an assembler, and through hands on hard work and perseverance, over the years worked his way to Design Engineer. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. The family wishes to thank Yolanda and Marie at Oak Summit, Terrie, Karen and the West Team of Hospice Home Care, Cindy, and all the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for the warm loving care shown to our loved one, Loy. A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00pm, Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Fraternity Church of the Brethren with Pastor Dave Kindy officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-4:00 prior to the service.
