Mr. Robert Warren Griffin, of Bermuda Run, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at his home. He was born September 7, 1939 in Lee County to Grover L. and Mary Britt Griffin. Mr. Griffin grew up in Fayetteville, NC, served in the U.S. Air Force and attended Methodist University. Mr. Griffin was a Manufacturer's Representative for 35 years. He was active in his community and church and served as a Town Councilman of Bermuda Run. He never met a stranger and enjoyed his friends and business associates. He was an avid golfer, loved sports, and enjoyed coaching his sons in sports and always being involved in their lives. But more than anything, Mr. Griffin loved and lived for his family, friends, his church and country. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Neal Griffin. Surviving him is his wife of 44 years, Judy Monterose Griffin of the home; three sons, Rob of Advance, Glen and his wife Doris of Fuquay-Varina and Sam of Waynesville; two grandsons, Dominick and Anthony; his stepmother, Elizabeth Griffin of Fayetteville; a sister, Margaret Fischer and husband Jack of Swampscott, Mass; three brothers, Grover Griffin Jr., of Fayetteville, Dr. Stan Griffin and wife Faye of Fayetteville and Johnny Griffin and wife Faye of Louisburg; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Griffin; his mother-in-law, Ruby Monterose of Fayetteville; sisters-in-law, Janet Monterose of Wilmington and Sandra Gravely and husband Dr. Archer Gravely of Asheville; 15 nieces and nephews and many cousins. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M Friday, May 22, 2009 at Clemmons Moravian Church with Rev. Q. Ray Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and at any other time at the home.
