Mr. Robert ""Bob"" Lewis Gearren, 66, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Gearren was born on February 1, 1946 in Forsyth County, NC to Robert Paul and Fay Holder Gearren. Bob was of the Catholic Faith. He bravely served in the United States Navy as a pilot. Bob was co-owner of Gearren Excavating. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, woodworking, participating in chili cook-offs and was an avid golfer. Bob was a friend to everyone he met and will be missed by many. Preceding Mr. Gearren in death are his father, Robert Paul Gearren and numerous aunts and uncles. Surviving Mr. Gearren are his wife, Joann Gearren of the home; three sons, Steven Gearren (Missy) of Clemmons, NC, Michael Gearren (Rebecca) of Bland, VA, and Paul Gearren (Adriana) of Winston-Salem; four granddaughters, Brittany, Morgan, Sydney, and Emily; his mother, Fay Gearren of Oklahoma; one sister, Lenora Lee Walters (Earl) of Oklahoma; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Michael Buttner officiating. A committal service will follow at the Holy Family Catholic Church Columbarium with full military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103, American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311 or any organization of the donor's choice.
