Robert Erskine Dees, Sr.

Mr. Robert Erskine Dees, Sr. of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on August 31, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Robert was born on January 16, 1949 in Forsyth County to Joseph Erskine Dees, Jr. and Josephine Miller Dees. He was employed with TW Garner Company from which he retired after 20 years of loyal service. He was a member of Christ Moravian Church. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he was on the USS McCaffery DD-860 Destroyer. Robert enjoyed working at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum on a part time basis. He also enjoyed going to Bowman Gray Stadium and loved Nascar, especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He enjoyed going to the beach and fishing. He love to go walk at the mall. He also enjoyed cooking at Tanglewood Chili Cookoff for the March of Dimes. Robert was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by one son, Robert E. Dees, Jr. of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Jessica Dees Cleary and husband Bobby also of Winston-Salem; his mother, Josephine M. Dees; one sister, Sharon Villafranca and husband William of Cary; two brothers, Gary Dees and wife Claire of Winston-Salem and Michael Dees of Myrtle Beach; The mother of his children, Vicki Dees of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Robert will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Chris Byrne. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
