Mr. Robert 'Bob' Thomas Davis, 86, died Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC, after a short illness. He was born September 17, 1925, in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County to the late Allie Long and Prudence ""Bobbi"" Queen Davis. In addition he is preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years Marion Tally Davis. Robert was a faithful member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church since he was a child where he served as a Deacon and participated on many committees, services and hospital ministries to his beloved Church, as well as Meals on Wheels for many years. He served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII and was retired from Bell laboratories in 1989 after 46 years of service. His many hobbies included woodworking, gardening, traveling, sports, computer games, and e-mailing friends and family. Robert is survived by his wife of 15 years Mary Jane Gray Guyer Davis; daughter Carol Davis Brothers; son Gary S. Davis; step-sons Mark Guyer and his wife Pam and Rick Guyer and his wife Sybil; grandchildren Doug Brothers and his wife Andrea, Steve Brothers, David Brothers and his wife Amy; step grandchildren Ashley and Dare Guyer, Walt Guyer and wife Angela, Sara Barone and her husband Fran and Amanda Guyer; great grandchildren Haley and Clarissa Brothers, Jeremy and Korben Brothers; step great grandchildren Lilly and Townes Guyer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 19 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Winston-Salem, NC on Silas Creek Parkway. A reception for friends and family will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Friday, July 20 in the Social Hall at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM Friday July 20 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church Sanctuary. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
