Mr. Robert Murray Clore, 85, of Clemmons died Friday, May 9, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 3, 1924 in Forsyth County, the son of the late, Ashby Lewis and Jennie Downen Clore. Mr. Clore was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and worked on numerous committees. He grew up in the South Fork Community, graduated from Lewisville School and was active in Boy Scout Troup #715 for over 50 years. He served with the US Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy and retired from Superior Oil Company where he was a partner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Clore Martin and a brother, Ashby L. Clore, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Iris Woody Clore of Clemmons; three sons, Woody Clore and wife, Barbara of Clemmons, Robert M. Clore, Jr. and wife, Latane of Clyde and Frank Clore and wife, Betsy of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Rosanne Strickland and husband, Rick of Windner, GA and Jeannette Clore of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Adam Frye, Wendy Coulter and husband, James, Elizabeth Clore, Jennifer Dackor and husband, Ryan, David Clore and wife, Christy, Jessica Hope Clore, Lee Clore, and Steven Strickland and wife, Stephanie; and four great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday. May 12, 2009 at 1:00 PM at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. David A. Marcus officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Clore will lie in state in the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Philadelphia Moravian Church General Fund, 4440 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
