Robert Franklin Clodfelter

Robert Franklin Clodfelter, 91, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at home and surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in Roanoke, Virginia on March 26, 1925. He was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. He graduated from Mars Hill University and Duke University School of Law. Bob served as a Trust Officer and Vice President at Wachovia Bank and Trust Company for 24 years. Taking early retirement in 1980 from the bank, he began teaching at the Wake Forest University School of Law. Bob eventually became Associate Dean of Students in addition to teaching classes in Wills and Estate Law. During his career, he taught in many schools of banking. He served on the Legislative Committee of the North Carolina Bankers Association, updating North Carolina trust law. Beyond his professional career and overshadowing it was his faith in God. For him Jesus was the way-the only way to live a life of love and integrity. This belief was shared with his family and all he met. As an artist, his love of God's creation was expressed, as a golfer that joy continued. Bob will be greatly missed by all who love him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marguerite V. Clodfelter. Children: daughter, Dr. Sharon C. Kuhn, son-in-law, Dr. Ted Kuhn; grandson, Dr. Joshua Kuhn and his wife, Marie; granddaughter, Dr. Lydia Kuhn; daughters, Cate Barthelemy and Barbara Foster; son, Robert Clodfelter and daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Reynolda Presbyterian Church, EPC with Pastor Alan Wright officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Kate B.
