Mr. Robert Gray Brandon, Sr., 84, of Clemmons, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at his home. He was born September 5, 1925 in Forsyth County to William F. and Nanie Lucinda Lawrence Brandon. Mr. Brandon was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of Clemmons Moravian Church for 55 years. He retired from Hanes Knit Ware (Sara Lee) after 38 years of service as an electrician. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Brandon was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Magdline Spaul Brandon; two daughters, Janice Wood of Clemmons and Cindy Gathje (Bob) of Rochester, MN; one son, Robert Brandon, Jr. (Gale) of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Lori Hill (Jon), Jolie Brandon Lecnar (Scott), Mandy Brandon (friend Shane) and Zachary Gathje; four great grandchildren, Andrew Brandon, Jordyn Hill, Sophie Lecnar and Evan Lecnar and six brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, January 29, 2010 at Clemmons Moravian Church with Rev. Ray Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard.
