Winston-Salem – Mr. Robert “Wayne” Biby, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025, at his home. He was born in Winston-Salem on July 6, 1941, to Anderson Biby and Geneva Hammock Biby. He married his high school sweetheart, Louise Beeson, once she finished nursing school. Wayne’s work led him to retire from RJ Reynolds after 35 years of dedicated service.
Wayne loved history. Wayne loved antiques. Wayne loved Walkertown. He spent his time perusing yard sales, going to Ward’s on Saturday morning, keeping his antique booth stocked. And Wayne was a people person. He could find a friend, someone to talk to, anywhere he went. Those friends filled his life, and he was thankful. Merging his loves, he joined with like-minded folks to start the Walkertown Area Historical Society, for which he was so proud. For years, Wayne was a member of the Walkertown Lions Club and delivered Meals on Wheels to community members.
Wayne was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Walkertown. He loved singing in the choir, was active in the Methodist Men, and on various committees and leadership roles over the years. He especially loved his Sunday School class and the life-long friendships he developed.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by one brother, Donnie Anderson Biby and one niece, Leslie Gordon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Louise Beeson Biby; his daughter, Sharon Biby; one sister, Hope Sell (husband, Danny); one sister-in-law, Pat Gordon (husband, Bill); two nieces, Sherri Worrell (husband, Shawn) and Amber Wall (husband, Scott); and 5 great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Wayne will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 4, 2024, at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Coppley and Samantha Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Association www.stroke.org or to the Walkertown Historical Society at PO Box 1183 Walkertown NC 27051 with checks payable to Walkertown Area Historical Society and specify that it is a memorial gift for Wayne. Please also notate who is sending the donation so that they can let the family know. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
