BANKINS Mr. Robert Allen Bankins, 55, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at his home. He was born March 15, 1953 in Hanover, NH, the son of the late Luther Allen and Phyllis Drew Bankins. Mr. Bankins was a member of Central Tabernacle Church where he taught Sunday school. He was a Firefighter at Triangle Volunteer Fire Department, Station 16 for five years and was President of Forsyth County React Team 2802 for many years. He completed three tours of Duty in Vietnam with the U. S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by ten sisters. Survivors include his wife, Tracie Bankins of the home; five children, Justin and Cody of the home, Bobbi and husband, Ben of Greensboro, Rachael and husband, Erik of NH and Veronica of SC; sixteen grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; two sisters-in-law, Chris of Mt. Airy and Tammy of Sparta; a special cousin, Mike and many special nieces and nephews, you will know who you are. He will be missed by five dear friends, T. J., Cheryl, Treava, Phil, Pete and many more. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Sandra Bovender and Dan Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
