Mr. Robert Sherman Baldwin, Jr. 90, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 10, 1920 in Custer County, Nebraska, the son of the late Robert Sherman Baldwin, Sr. and Florence Rash Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin served in the US Navy in the Pacific on an LST boat during World War II. He later worked at Carolina Garage in Winston-Salem until his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lula Tucker Baldwin, a daughter, Virginia Baldwin Martin, two sisters, Bernice Baldwin Lineberry and Virginia Baldwin; a brother, Floyd Baldwin and a son-in-law, Douglas Hooker. He is survived by one son, Stephen Floyd Baldwin and wife, Teresa; one daughter, Linda Baldwin Hooker; four grandchildren, April Baldwin, Scott Martin, Tony Martin and wife, Angie and Sandy Schultz and husband, Randy; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Martin and Stacey Frances; one son-in-law, Bob Martin; one sister, Akron Elkins; two brothers, Warren Baldwin and Sherman Baldwin of Florida and various nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. There will be no formal visitation. Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
