Robah Grey Sapp, Sr.

Mr. Robah Gray Sapp, Sr., formally of Rose Tara Plantation, King, N.C. died Wednesday July, 15th at 9:30 a.m. at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was born November 25, 1924 in Forsyth County to Harvey Edward Sapp, Jr. and Grace Livengood Sapp. He was of the Methodist faith. He retired from Hanes Hosiery (now Sara Lee) after 41 ½ years. He was a World War II Veteran, Tail Gunner on a B-17 Bomber. He was in the Army Air Force, stationed on the Island of Guam. He served his country proudly, earning an American Theater Campaign Medal, an Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal, and a Victory Medal. He was an avid gardener and an Atlanta Braves baseball fan. He loved to cook and can especially out of the garden. Mr. Sapp was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife (and Mother of his children) Juanita Virginia Ransome Sapp; his son, R. G. Sapp, Jr.; his son in law, Richard Alspaugh; his two brothers, H. E. Sapp, Jr. and Fred Sapp. Surviving are three daughters Gail Sapp (Richard) Lumley, Shirley Sapp Alspaugh, Pam Sapp (Donnie) Rabon; one daughter in law Glenda White Sapp; six grandchildren, Lori Lumley, Leslie (David) Styers, Steven (Cindy) Rabon, Scott Rabon, Julie (Garland) George, Eddie Gray Sapp; six-great grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Horton, Betty (Dr. Leon) Mikles, Ester Beshears; one sister-in-law, Helen Sapp; two brothers Dennis (Doc) Sapp, Harry (Pat) Sapp. A graveside service will be held at Forsyth Memorial Park on 10:00 AM on Friday July 17, 2009, by Dr. Leon Mikles (his brother-in-law) and Rev.. Gary Mahathey. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
