Roachel Jackson 'Jack' Boone

Mr. Roachel Jackson ""Jack"" Boone, 85, of Goldsboro, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011. He was born December 5, 1925 in Chesterfield County, SC to Sam and Mamie Ann Mills Boone. Mr. Boone was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church for 58 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for 29 months in WWII and was involved in D-Day. He was retired from the W-S Fire Department as Sergeant with 31 years of service. Mr. Boone was a diehard Atlanta Braves fan, but most and foremost, a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Branscome Boone; three brothers, Frank, Keith and Lester Boone. Surviving are three children, Sherry Medlin and husband Donald of Goldsboro, Richard Boone and wife Susan of Winston-Salem, Lou Anne Price and husband Doug of Walnut Cove; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, May 27th at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Clemmons Memorial Honor Guard.
