Marguerita ""Rita"" Pons Reich, 85, of Winston Salem, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem. She was born March 17, 1928 in Burke County to the Late Rev. John Pons and Lydia Jacumin Pons. She graduated from Greensboro College and went on to instill her love of music with her students at Summit School. She was an avid music lover and taught piano in her home for many years. She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church where she shared her musical love in the choir and on the piano and organ. Her amazing voice and her musical talent were her gifts to many throughout the years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Grady James Reich Sr., a son Grady James ""Jimmy"" Reich Jr.; three brothers Walter Pons, AA ""Trigger"" Pons, Edward Pons; and a sister Evelyn Bronson. Those left to cherish her memory are four nieces, Claudia Weber (David), Nadine Duckworth, Gwendolyn Bonner (Robert), Jeanette Farris (Charlie); and a nephew, Milton Pons (Geneva); and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Also left with fond memories are a special friend, Donna Davis; caretakers, Pamela Jones, Carolyn Jones, Christie Glenn and Porche Lahey; and longtime cat, ""Punkin"". She also leaves behind many friends who will greatly miss her wit and stories. A memorial service will be held on February 15, 2014 at 2pm at Highland Presbyterian Church with a receiving following the service. A private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Presbyterian Church Music Fund, 2380 Cloverdale Ave., Winston Salem; or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem.
