Mr. Ricky “Ric” Lee McDowell, 62, a resident of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024. at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Ric was born in Pulaski County, KY. on September 3, 1961. to Howard Weldon McDowell, Sr. and Sylvia Haynes McDowell. He was preceded in death by his parents. He owned and operated McDowell’s Machine & Fabrication for many years. Thank you to all the guys at the shop for keeping everything going.
Ric was a loving husband, father, and was an amazing person. If you were his friend, he would also consider you family. Ric’s passion for family and friends runs blood deep. He would be there at the drop of a hat to help however was needed, or just to sit with them. So many Family and Friends have been there for Ric during this time and we appreciate you all so very much. Ric’s passion is people, and he always did right by them. Ric never met a stranger and his love of conversation kept everyone in great spirits. All he needed was a Salem, a Pepsi and his feet in the dirt, and he was happy. WWRD (What Would Ric Do) – all anyone needed to do was just listen to him.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Teresa McDowell; their children, Maggie Ellen McDowell and Nicholas Lee McDowell, both of Winston-Salem; a brother, Howard “Skip” Weldon McDowell, Jr. (Mayumi) of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Lisa McDowell Wike (Todd) of Winston-Salem; nephews, Jordan Wike and Nathan Wooten (Kayla); niece, Ashley Wooten (Fiancé Adam), his dear friend, Rene Swing (Robin); his fur-kid, the bestest kitty ever: Sour Patch; and many other family members and friends. Special Thank you to our Families, and our Kentucky Family for your support and for visiting.
Let it be known, he went out on his own terms.
Come as you are to join us in a celebration of Ric.
