Rickie William Southern, 64, of Tobaccoville passed away March 6, 2015. Rickie was born May 6, 1950 to Arthur Charles and Blanche Halsey Southern. Rickie was one of God's special children. We were blessed to have him in our home and in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his brother Ronnie C. Southern of King; niece, Angel Light, Rickie's legal guardian and, her husband Gary, of the home; two nephews, Chris Southern of King, and Junior Southern of Stanleyville; a great nephew and best friend, Stevie Simpson and his wife Faith; a great nephew, (Tubby) Dakota Light; and a great-great nephew, Aiden Simpson; and very special friends Donald Priddy, Carla Benton, Patricia Newman. Rickie was loved by everyone he knew. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ottis Hurst officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm, prior to the service, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Jamie A.
