Richard Wilson Barrow, best known as “Wick” went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Wick was born in Kernersville, NC on July 22, 1933 to the late Roy Wilson and Hettie Louise Bull Barrow. He was a lifelong resident of Kernersville and truly loved his community. He graduated from Kernersville High School, served 2 years in the United States Army, and then worked for Western Electric/AT&T until he retired at the end of 1989.
He worked part time at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel for several years after his retirement. He was a longtime member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and on several committees throughout the years.
His commitment to Kernersville and Forsyth County was expressed in many ways including the Jaycees, Lion’s Club, American Legion Post 36, the Forsyth County Board of Elections, various school PTAs, and East Forsyth High School athletics. Wick was the “Voice of the Eagles” for at least 5 decades. He announced football, boy’s and girls’ basketball, and baseball games with much joy and passion.
Wick enjoyed all sports, and some of his hobbies included NASCAR, classic cars, fishing, and spending time at the beach. He truly cherished his family and loved spending time with them every chance he had.
Surviving are his daughter Robyn Ferris and her husband Dennis of Kernersville. Grandchildren Amanda Frederico (Evan) of Belews Creek, Dylan Ferris (Makinzi) of Foster City, CA and great granddaughter Adaline Frederico. He is also survived by his devoted companion Joy Tucker of the home, stepson Darin Tucker (Amy) of Archdale,NC and grandson Evan Tucker. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Teague.
Wick touched many lives while with us. He is a part of so many wonderful memories and he will remain in all of our hearts.

A graveside service celebrating his life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor David Rorie officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, March 18, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel as well as following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
