Richard Lee Tilley, Sr.

Mr. Richard Lee Tilley, Sr., 64, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born October 11, 1944 in Forsyth County to Joe Franklin and Eva Swain Tilley. Mr. Tilley was an avid golfer and has loved playing for several years. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and family. He was a football coach for the Tiny Greyhounds, Lewisville Titans, and baseball coach at South Little League for several years, and a life-coach of many kids. He was also a long-time member of the West Forsyth YMCA. He loved to fish, and loved to vacation at Cherry Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Johnny Wayne and Bobby Joe Tilley; two sisters, Dorothy Hanner and Helen Bauguess; and a grandson, Tyler Wayne Tilley. Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Mary Tilley; two sons, Johnny Wayne Tilley and fianc郩 Angie, Richard ""Ricky"" Lee Tilley, Jr. and wife Kristan; a former daughter-in-law, April Tilley; five grandchildren, Trent, Trace, Raygan, Nicolas and Kaylin; four brothers, Charlie Tilley and wife Betty, Buck Tilley and wife Opal, Jerry Tilley and wife Dorothy, and Freddie Tilley; one sister, Lois Stull and husband Chuck of Hyattsville, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at Glory Road Baptist Church with Pastor Charles H. Whitaker and Pastor Larry T. Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
