Richard Leroy Stark, Sr.

Mr. Richard L. Stark, Sr. (Dick), 82, of Advance, NC passed away April 21, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 16, 1931 in Baltimore, MD to the late Robert R. and Hilda V. Stark. Dick served in the U.S. Air Force, and retired from JC Penney after 27 years. He graduated from the University of Florida and was an avid Gators fan. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Ann M. Stark. Surviving are his daughter, Margie S. Rogers; a son, Richard L. Stark, Jr. and his wife Cindy H. Stark, four grandchildren, Brenton A. Rogers, Sarah E. Rogers, Emily S. Nelson, and Kathryn M. Stark; and three great granddaughters, Alexis, Phoebe and Zoe Rogers. He is also survived by a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John P. Byrd and Carolyn M. Byrd and their family. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Minister Charles Alexander officiating.
