Richard S. Joe" Rogerson

RURAL HALL Mr. Richard S. ""Joe"" Rogerson Jr., 65, passed away at his home on January 11, 2011. He was born in Forsyth Co. on July 15, 1945 the son of the late Richard Soloman ""Dick"" Rogerson Sr. and Bonnie Mae Dotson Rogerson. Joe was owner and operator of Rogerson Landscaping for 25 years. He loved collecting old records and jukeboxes that he restored. Joe also loved the beach and beach music and always enjoyed the time spent at their place at N. Myrtle Beach. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles. Joe is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Debbie Rogerson of the home, a daughter, Jennifer Bently of Winston-Salem, a step-son, David Litteral and wife Tina of Mt. Airy, his four wonderful grandchildren, Caitlin, Megan, Kayla and Mason, two sisters, Patsy Shelton of Lewisville and Lynn Shouse and husband Ronald of Pfafftown, his mother-in-law, Mona Bunting of Winston-Salem and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Joe will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with the Reverend Dr. Pete Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 -2:00 prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or New Hope United Methodist Church, 5125 Shattalon Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27106. The family would like thank nurses Sherry Lynn and Marla, Dr. Karen Cross and the entire staff of Hospice and also Dr. Petty and staff at WFUBMC for the loving care shown to Joe in his time of need.
