KERNERSVILLE – Mr. Richard Raymond Pouliot, 71, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at Forsyth Medical Center. Richard was born on May 11, 1950 in Somerset, Maine to Raymond and Virginia Tibbetts Pouliot. Richard was a 1972 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and was a veteran of the US Navy. He retired from Duke Energy with 33 years of service, and was a member of Triad Baptist Church, where he volunteered in many capacities. Richard was an avid UNC Tar Heel fan and enjoyed all sports – with basketball being a favorite, but was the number one fan of anything the grandchildren were doing. He was a strong family man, a planner, and loved a good joke. Richard had a giving heart and was very generous with his time, helping others whenever he could. Even in his last days, he still gave of his time and commitment of bringing people together.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Amelia R. Pouliot; his father, Raymond Pouliot; his stepfather, Frank Klucz; and father-in-law, Briscoe Randolph.
Surviving are his children, Renée Pouliot Bridges (husband, Jim Bridges) and Stephen Christopher Pouliot (wife, Kristi Pouliot); three grandchildren, Uriah, Logan, and Madison Pouliot; his mother, Virginia Klucz; two brothers, Brian Pouliot (wife, Teresa) and Tom Pouliot; two sisters, Deborah Schloss, and Ellen Anderson (husband, Jim); his mother-in-law, Mae Randolph; and his granddog, “Zuk”.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Triad Baptist Church with Dr. Rob Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Triad Baptist Christian Academy-Scholarship Fund, 1175 S. Main Street, Kernersville, NC 27284.
The family extends a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and Summerstone Health and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care.
