Richard Dean “Dick” Michael, 93, passed away at his home Thursday, February 16, 2023. He was born October 29, 1929, in Cuming Co., Nebraska to the late William Henry Michael and Dora Albers Michael. Dick graduated from the University of Nebraska and was a lifelong member of Delta Sigma Pi – Professional Business Fraternity. He spent most of his life as a company comptroller. He worked for Whiten Oil and Gas in Wyoming, The Westin Hotel in Denver, Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado, and Eaton Metal Products in Salt Lake City. He finished his career in the San Francisco East Bay area as owner operator of Airport Used Trucks. Dick was a sports enthusiast; hunting, fishing, running, skiing and most of all cycling. He was very proud of the fact that on his 75th birthday he cycled 75 miles. Shortly after moving to North Carolina from Northern California Dick and his wife joined Centenary United Methodist Church in downtown Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four siblings; Stanley Michael (Mary Elizabeth) of Omaha, NE, Lowell Michael (Joanne) of Chicago, Bill Michael (Arlene) of Omaha and Dorisanne Grenet (Claude) of Stone Mountain, GA. Surviving are his wife; Nancy O’Grady Michael; children, Cynthia Michael (John Daley) of San Leandro, CA, Jennifer Alexander of Stafford, AZ, Richard Dean Michael Jr. (Jolene) of Oakland, CA, William Michael of Independence, CA and Theresa Ellerbroek (Bart) of Nampa, ID. Also are two stepsons, Brian vonTress (Cyndi) of Granite Bay, CA and John Blagg (Debbie) of Ukiah, CA. A Celebration of Life will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
