Richard Eugene Meredith

Richard Eugene Meredith, 91, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Hospice Home of High Point. He was born on April 26, 1932, to the late Daniel Robert Meredith and Mary Hall Meredith in Davidson County. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. Known as "Gene" to friends and family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and provider. He loved to grow a garden; to build and rebuild just about anything including cars, tractors, sewing machines, houses, and more, even inventing parts and tools as needed. Everyone knew him for immediately helping anyone needing assistance. He loved to eat - especially sweets, fruits, vegetables, and salads. He was also known for his subtle and mischievous humor. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he looked forward to and now awaits the time when he will live forever in a paradise earth where he will continue to garden, build, invent and help others. A time when sickness and death will be no more. (Revelation 21:3,4; Psalms 37:29)

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his first wife Juanita; brother Morris Meredith; nephews Jonny and Chris Meredith.  He is survived by his wife Nancy, brother Forrest (wife Betty), daughter Anita Ontko (husband Gregory), sons Michael and Randal (wife Stacey), and daughter Michelle Goforth (husband Timothy); nieces Tina Minton and Susan Dunivant; nephews Gary and Dennis Meredith; Nancy’s children, daughter Lynne Little (husband Curtis), son Jay Moran (wife Lisa), six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service in remembrance of Richard will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1507 East Mountain St, Kernersville, NC 27284. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made at www.jw.org.
