Richard James Meadows

MEADOWS Winston-Salem - Mr. Richard James Meadows, 77, passed away Thursday, September 03, 2009 following a brief illness. He was born in Forsyth County February 19, 1932 the son of the late Carmel Cristley and Gean Utt Meadows. He was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Mr. Meadows was a petty officer in the U.S. Coast Guard serving during the Korean Conflict and retired from Lucent Technologies with 37 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Annie Mae Campbell Meadows in December of 2004. Surviving is two daughters, Sherry (Tommy) Wilson of Kernersville and Belinda (Robert) Cooper of Colfax; four grandchildren, Samantha Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Amanda Cooper and James Cooper; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 5 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Jim Saul officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial donations are requested to be made to Oaklawn Baptist Church, 3500 Kernersville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
